Winter is a great time of year for you to get out and travel. But with so much else going on this time of year, it may seem impossible for you to imagine having enough free time to sneak away for a few days. Luckily for you, you don’t have to go very far from home to experience a great winter vacation.

Glassboro, New Jersey, has plenty to offer this time of year. It just so happens there’s also plenty of great options for your holiday vacation within driving distance as well. Here’s a look at some of those best winter travel destinations close to home.

The Majestic Hotel – Ocean Grove, NJ

One of the most historic destinations in all of New Jersey, the Majestic Hotel is a great place to visit during the winter. It’s a nice drive from Glassboro to Ocean Grove that takes just over 90 minutes, with plenty of options for beautiful scenery along the way. During the holidays, the Majestic is decorated to the tilt, adding even more Christmas cheer to your vacation. A quick and easy vacation can be had at The Majestic Hotel – but keep in mind that rooms are filling quick this time of year!

Mountain Creek – Vernon, NJ

Family-SkiingGrab your skis or snowboard and head to Mountain Creek for a winter getaway on the slopes. This four-star resort is one of the most popular in New Jersey, and there is plenty to enjoy for the entire family. Who says you can’t ski in New Jersey? Surely not those who have shredded it up at Mountain Creek.

CoCo Key Water Resort – Mount Laurel, NJ

The kids can’t wait till summer, but there’s no way the entire family could afford a vacation to the Bahamas this time of year. Luckily for you, you can load up the car and set our destination for CoCo Key Water Resort in Mount Laurel, as it is an indoor waterpark experience that will be very appreciated in the winter. What’s even better about CoCo Key is that it’s just a 30 minute drive from Glassboro. This makes for the perfect day away splashing and swimming during this cold winter season.

Head North To New York

Those that want to get out of New Jersey entirely can do so by heading to New York. If you haven’t had the chance to visit Time Square during this time of year, it’s truly something worth marveling over. The way that they light up Times Square with holiday decorations and festivities will keep you and your family busy during your vacation here. Or if you want to stay on the Garden State Parkway, keep heading north until you reach West Point Academy to get in touch with one of America’s most historic military universities. Don’t forget the Adirondacks Mountains, which are also in New York and provide plenty of options for hiking, camping, and more. New York has plenty of great options for you and your family this winter, making it worth the couple-hour drive north.

Make it a season you won’t soon forget as you head out to any of these winter travel destinations close to home.
